Musicman
Hello, hello!
Well we went to see U2 do their thing in Adelaide last night. It was 13 years ago they were here last. Sure weren't they good, as usual. Nothing to run out into the streets and cry "Hurrah!" about. Although the local media are calling it as the "Best Concert Ever". That's little old Adelaide for you, so starved of international attention that any little thing sets them off. I suppose U2's gig was a big deal for this place, it is rather insular. Cold night though. It's ironic that the last time I saw the lads from Dublin it was in Landsdowne Road on a fine and sultry August night in 1997. In fact it was my first date with Vanessa. There you go.
Well on other music news I discovered Damien Rice this week. An excellent young artist from Celbridge, County Kildare. Check out his two albums O and 9. You'll recognise his stuff if not his name.
We're all throttleing toward Christmas over here. Vanessa and I are heading up to Queensland for our holidays. Going to spend some time with Vanessa's aunt and some time alone in the Whitsundays. Lord know we won't be able to do too much come April 2007.
Today we went and had the ultrasound for morphology. A bit of a flat even really. All I can tell you is that Skeletor McBean has the required number of kidney's, heart chambers, stomachs, bladders, brains, lips, eyes, legs, toes, arms and fingers (which from all the sonographs so far appear to be clenched into perpetual fists). S/hes a stubborn little one though! No matter how much prodding or pushing the operator did little McBean would not play fair. A lot of Hamilton there I reckon.
I better tell you why Skeletor McBean. Well, those of you with kid will understand this. Finding a name is HARD! Really!. I thought, like Vanessa, that a name would be easy. Sure we both had names we like for a long, long time before we fell prgnant. The thing is as soon as a child becomes a reality those name somehow loose all their power. Honestly it doesn't help that my family has managed to use up almost every name going! It's the Elliott's more so. Anyway S McB has come about because of a few reasons. One we don't know the sex, and don't want to know. Two, we just can't decide on a name and both of us deeply believe that to name the child before s/he's born is a very bad thing to do. Finally, it's a combination of how the baby looks to us right now - the first ultrasound showed us a tiny thing the size and shape of a butter bean, these days all we see is a little lump of chicken bones that makes us smile like our heads are flip-top bins! So there we have Skeletor McBean.
Later folks!
Malcolm
